Plugin YAML validation

looks like the plugin YAML needs to be validated better:

We could extend the plugin YAML to allow multiple entities for author information, that'd certainly be better than the current structure.

Is this something you'd be interested in implementing, I'd be happy to merge in a patch with this functionality if you are able to look into it?
