Slices

Reported by El Draper | June 25th, 2008 @ 09:34 PM | in 0.5

We're going to start looking at having plugins actually be slices (as in, merb-slices), as well as the possibility of Feather itself being a slice that can be included within other Merb apps. Assigned to me, but there will be a fair few people involved in getting this up and running I'm sure.

This should be key to stabilizing Feather for the 0.5 milestone.

Oh, there is a separate branch on the core repo ("slices") that'll be used to run against edge Merb to start the work on merb-slices.

Ok I just looked into slices.

It is possible to load and unload slices dynamically.

Furthermore they don't have to be gems.

Looks like it could be integrated easily, but we should talk about that before we start.

We did discuss this pretty heavily in IRC, so I think there are a few of us that are going to be working on it. There is a separate branch ("slices") on both repos that'll be used for this experimental code, so make sure you run off of that branch to keep in sync.

Thanks for the info though, I think it should be possible to get this up and running without too many problems.
