Gem error when installing plugins that feature gems

This happens on installation.
ERROR: While executing gem ... (Gem::Exception)
Cannot load gem at [./app/plugins/feather-formatters/gems/rubypants-0.2.0.gem] in /home/aflatter/apps/feather/app/plugins/feather-formatters/gems
ERROR: While executing gem ... (Gem::Exception)
Cannot load gem at [./app/plugins/feather-formatters/gems/RedCloth-3.0.4.gem] in /home/aflatter/apps/feather/app/plugins/feather-formatters/gems
ERROR: While executing gem ... (Gem::Exception)
Cannot load gem at [./app/plugins/feather-formatters/gems/coderay-0.7.4.215.gem] in /home/aflatter/apps/feather/app/plugins/feather-formatters/gems
ERROR: While executing gem ... (Gem::Exception)
Cannot load gem at [./app/plugins/feather-formatters/gems/BlueCloth-1.0.0.gem] in /home/aflatter/apps/feather/app/plugins/feather-formatters/gems
There's a redirect to /admin/plugins/:id, but as the plugin is not installed successfully, an exception is triggered.
